This camp is unlike any other offered. It focuses not only on basketball skills but teaches the young players Benedictine values that come into play both on and off the court. Camp Mission To teach the fundamentals of basketball, focusing on dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense. The girls will also be introduced to the Benedictine life skills of balance, listening, respect, work, and discipline. Campers: Girls entering Grades 4-8 for the 2007-2008 school year. Each camper receives a Basketball for Life T-shirt, a team photo and enjoys a pizza party. Camp Activities: Individual instruction, team competition and camp lectures. Schedule: 6-6:15 pm Attendance/Warm-up 6:15-6:45 pm Guest Speaker/Demonstrations 6:45-7 pm Skill development demonstration (offense, defense, dribbling, shooting, rebounding, etc.) 7-7:30 pm Skill Development and team practice 7:30-8pm Games Set #1 8-8:30 pm Competitions 8:30-9 pm Games Set #2 9 pm Dismissal Camp Coaches: Local area high school and AAU and CYO coaches and players. Camp Director: Suzie Dailer, whose vision founded the basketball camp in 2003 looks forward to returning to the Benedict Inn to coach and share her love of the game. Suzie, who began playing basketball in 5th grade, hopes to share the lessons of life that can be learned by playing and being part of a basketball team. In High School, Suzie was All-State in Basketball in West Virginia for two years and went on to attend and play basketball at St. Bonaventure University, New York on a full athletic scholarship. She was selected to the Atlantic-10 All-Conference Team for three years and became the 1995 National 3-point shooting Champion for Division Women’s Basketball. Suzie volunteers as assistant basketball coach to high school girls in her home town, Wheeling, West Virginia. She works with a community outreach program with the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia as a nurse. Suzie will be assisted by Linda Buckley who played bb for Indiana University, Ontario's Provincial Basketball team, Canada's Junior Women's Basketball team and Canada's national B team. Currently, Linda coaches for St. Jude's and St. Mark's CYO teams. Fee: $80.00 per camper ($25 non-refundable deposit due with registration) $65.00 for additional campers from the same family.
